Beecher Recreation
Board of Directors Code of Conduct

 

This code of conduct has been formulated to clarify the type of conduct that is expected of Beecher Recreation Board members and officers during their elected year on the Board./

To serve as a Beecher Recreation board member you must sign and abide by the Code of Conduct and bylaws.

BOARD MEMBERS HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO:

  1. Treat everyone fairly within the context of their activity, regardless of gender, place of origin, color, sexual orientation, religion, political belief or economic status.
  2. Direct comments or criticism at the activity rather than the person.
  3. Consistently display high personal standards and project a favorable image when representing the organization.
    • Refrain from public criticism of fellow board members, volunteers, and community members.
    • Abstain from the use of tobacco products while representing the organization.
    • Abstain from drinking, possessing or be under the influence of alcoholic beverages while representing the organization.
    • Abstain from the use or be under the influence of illegal drugs while representing the organization.
    • Refrain from the use of profane, insulting, harassing or otherwise offensive language when representing the organization.
    • Refrain from personal attack or harassment – visual, verbal or physical – on another person.
    • Attend to your Board duties, as directed, in a timely manner.
    • Comply with Beecher Recreation Conflict of Interest policy.

BOARD MEMBERS MUST:

  1. Act within the law.
  2. Be honest and fair.
  3. Observe confidentiality in respect of all information gained through your participation as a Board Member.
  4. Treat Beecher Recreation members, volunteers, students, staff and community members with respect.
  5. Respect the dignity of others; verbal or physical behaviors that constitute harassment or abuse are unacceptable.
  6. Refrain from using Beecher Recreation equipment and supplies for purposes unrelated to Beecher Recreation activities unless explicitly authorized by a majority vote of the Board or Directors.
  7. Restrict the use of Beecher Recreation equipment and supplies to Beecher Recreation board members and volunteers unless explicitly authorized by a majority vote of the Board or Directors.

I have read and understand the above statements and agree to conduct myself in a manner that demonstrates the standards established in the Beecher Recreation Board of Directors Code of Conduct.

Failure to abide by the Beecher Recreation Board of Directors Code of Conduct will result in review by the board and possible suspension or dismissal.

 

Beecher Recreation
Coaches Code of Conduct

The purpose of Beecher Recreation is to assist boys and girls in developing the skills of softball, baseball, volleyball and basketball sportsmanship, and the ability to work with their peers towards a common goal. It is the responsibility of the coaches, and spectators, to provide a positive environment to accomplish these goals. This code of conduct has been formulated to clarify the type of conduct that is expected of Beecher Recreation coaches during their volunteer period.

To serve as a Beecher Recreation volunteer coach you must sign and abide by the Code of Conduct.

VOLUNTEER COACHES HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO:

    • Refrain from the use of profane, insulting, harassing or otherwise offensive language when representing the organization.
    • Refrain from personal attack or harassment – visual, verbal or physical – on another person.

VOLUNTEER COACHES MUST:

  1. Be honest and fair and act within the guidelines set forth by the sport coordinators. This includes, but is not limited to: striving for equal playing times for all participants; prioritizing playing time for original team members over replacement players; emphasizing fun and fundamentals over winning.
  2. Observe confidentiality in respect of all information gained through your participation as a volunteer.
  3. Treat Beecher Recreation board members, volunteers, referees/umpires, participants, opponents and community members with respect.
  4. Respect the dignity of others; verbal or physical behaviors that constitute harassment are unacceptable.

Failure to abide by the Coach Code of Conduct will result in review by the board and possible suspension or dismissal.

First infraction – Coach must appear before the board. Beecher Recreation may impose a 2 game suspension.
Second infraction – Beecher Recreation may terminate coach for remainder of season.
